McMaster Building

The McMaster Building at 1180 Homer Street is one of Yaletown's true heritage gems. Originally constructed in 1910 as a warehouse and office building during the first wave of Yaletown's development, it was built in the Edwardian Commercial style with an unusual white glazed brick façade on Homer Street — and it still holds a place on the Vancouver Heritage Register today.

In 2007, Townline and Bingham Hill Architects completely rebuilt the six-level building behind that restored façade, which means owners get the rarest combination in Vancouver: genuine heritage character with the bones of a contemporary build. The structure is concrete, seismically upgraded, fully rain-screened, and air-conditioned, with parking for all units via an in-building parking elevator and storage lockers for most homes.

There are only 15 lofts in the building, and the finish level is among the best of any Yaletown conversion. Homes feature ceilings over nine feet, exposed brick, reclaimed fir floors and beams, oversized clean-lined windows with wide concrete sills, frosted glass bedroom and den walls, fireplaces, and spa-like bathrooms. Kitchens are fitted with Miele and Sub-Zero appliances. The location is the heart of Yaletown at Homer and Davie — steps from the neighbourhood's best restaurants, the seawall, and the Yaletown-Roundhouse SkyTrain station.
